I attended the European Desktop Grid for E-Science (EDGeS) this week to learn all about connecting service computing grids (EGEE) and desktop computing grids (BOINC). Fascinating stuff, really, once you get the demo computers up and running. Honestly, it’s hard to get anyone interested in the wonderful secondary tasks computers can do with their idle clock cycles when we can’t seem to get them even to do their primary tasks.
1 hour and counting… if only it would find that damn elusive DHCP server!

Maybe even the reason for the constant delays, hmm?
